The Kashmir Pashmina
constitutes a timeless facet of the rich cultural heritage of Kashmir. The Pashmina sector occupies a special place in the economy of the state of Jammu & Kashmir, by engaging more than 3 Lac people who are directly and indirectly involved with the Pashmina industry.
CDI, Srinagar
has been leading several important initiatives to protect the interests and welfare of the Kashmir Pashmina industry and its consumers. CDI has facilitated the registration process of Kashmir Pashmina as a Geographical Indication (GI) and setting-up a Pashmina Testing & Quality Certification Centre.
Tahafuz
A Society of artisans from Kashmir, are the registered proprietors of the Kashmir Pashmina GI and are actively involved with it's enforcement through monitoring the quality standards of genuine, handmade Kashmir Pashmina.
